When I was a child I always remember the time I went to visit Santa. I queued with my mum and about 100 other people and felt excited as we edged ever closer to the big man.
There was also another family waiting behind and what stays with me is the eldest brother said to his younger sister “If he gives you another farm yard set rip his beard off.”
This made me laugh back then and still makes me laugh today. It has become a standing joke in our family, is a byword for rubbish presents and is still remembered by my mum and my brother today.
Now I gave this some thought because of course we simply paid to see Santa and he didn’t really have a clue who was turning up. I know, he’s magic and knows if you’ve been bad or good etc – but given his clear track record of repeatedly giving out farm yard sets to girls it struck me that no matter how magic he might be he could really do with a helping hand.
