Visit Britain study highlights the brutal impact of Covid 19 on the Visitor Economy whilst forecasting a 3 year journey to recovery
Have you seen the 2022 inbound tourism forecast for the UK recently published by Visit Britain? It makes interesting reading for any UK venue, attraction, tour or event.
The study predicts an increase in visitor volumes through 2022 to 21 million with almost £17 billion of spend. However, these are just over 50% of 2019 levels and Visit Britain does not expect 2019 levels to be achieved until 2025.
In terms of domestic tourism (holidays, business, visiting friends and relatives and miscellaneous journeys) VB forecasts a recovery to £56 billion in 2021 which is around 60% of the 2019 annual spend.
Notwithstanding the unpredicability of the pandemic, wider economic recovery seems to be strong and there is good reason to believe that pent up demand will deliver good numbers for UK attractions over the rest of 2022.
